Personal Advisers will work most effectively if they are integrated into a school or college team dedicated to providing comprehensive joined up support for young people. See Making the Most of Connexions in your school or college.

Management of Personal Advisers
Connexions Personal Advisers are expected to meet and work with young people in a range of settings. The Personal Adviser's work in a school or college will be to deliver the services outlined in the partnership agreement. However, they remain employed by Youth & Connexions.

Allocation of PA time
PA time for schools is based on a formula agreed by Head Teachers in March 2002. The PA time covers all aspects of work associated with young people in that school's cohort, including face-to-face work with groups and individual young people within and outside of the school, meetings and administration time.

Young people with learning difficulties and disabilities need additional resources to support them through the period of transition into adult life. For special needs schools we provide triple the average amount of PA time for mainstream schools.
