New Diplomas
From September 2008, there is a new qualification available for young people aged 14-19: the Diploma – which combines academic learning with practical hands-on skills.
It’s an alternative to the traditional GCSE or A level route, but keeps just as many options open. It’s a qualification that you can start in Years 10 and 12 or above, and could lead to further study or to a job with training.
The first diploma will be engineering provided in north Suffolk.
The following diplomas will be available from 2009:
Over the next 3 years, more and more diploma subjects will become available.

Skills and experience
The Diploma will help you to develop the skills and employers valued by employers, universities and colleges.
These skills include teamwork and creating thinking, and will help to prepare you for wherever you want to go in life. You’ll also develop your skills in English, maths and ICT.
